Fear and Fabulousness

Today started with Murphy. He sometimes sleeps on the bed, but always comes into the bedroom in the early hours, regardless. More often than not to yowl for food at a totally unreasonable hour, but sometimes for a cuddle. This morning was a cuddle. So, instead of getting up and getting on with my chores, I spent that dawn hour simply petting my beautiful Bengal boy. He's only good to look at, he's useless at catching things, can't keep other cats out and doesn't own the road. I've discovered that was ALL Madge. But he is affectionate and needs attention, so this morning we revelled in that together.

And then I still didn't do my chores I played Scrabble until it was time to head off to Susie's in St Albans.

Now, this is where the fear comes in. I've never enjoyed driving, but I'm sorry to say that over the last couple of years, my reticence has turned to fear, both as driver and passenger. I simply do not like being in cars any more. However, having Rod's car saved me a 2 hour train journey and expensive cab fare at the other end. So I opted to drive. With Satnav. And yes, I was scared, but I was fine. It wasn't a problem. I went slow and steady and got there and back. So well done me.

And the fabulousness was us! Margo, Susie and self had an absolutely slap up lunch in Susie's garden. In full and glorious sunshine! I have serious garden envy, she has the most colourful, delicious garden, everything thrives, and a pond with fish, and a Wiemeraner and A TORTOISE!! Mr Shelley is actually a very speedy tortoise, and the dog is a bit scared of him, or her, it's a transgender tortoise.

What a joy it was to spend five or six hours in the company of these intelligent, feist women. Naturally we covered the normals - gossiping about friends, dissing men and the state of the scene. But then there was FGM, vibrators, genetically modified foods, travel, drugs, education, Luton Airport, lesbians, hair and so much more besides. How brilliant it is to have all of these marvellous discussions, to learn and to contribute. I was sorry to leave, genuinely.

Last night I had an impromptu visit from Debbie after dropping Rod off. And we sat in the garden, chatting with a couple of bottles of red, until gone 11, and I enjoyed that too.

This may sound odd coming from me, but when you've had to deal with a cheat for many years, you do begin to doubt your self-worth and your own value. Because you are made to feel that you are never good enough. My friends like me. Yes they do. Thewy invite me to places and things and share with me. And although I recognise that this is only the beginning of the end, I can already see the light at the end of the tunnel. I'm optimistic.

Sunday. Hmmmmm. Maybe a bike ride, but I also want to go to Lidl, and of course the weeding really needs doing. I've been very productive tonight and Ebayed a whole bag of unwanteds. So tomorrow, maybe I'll just see where the wind blows me ;)

Re: Luton
Hate it!

We flew via there for Corfu with the perv gang in June. It was bloody awful. We've all re-booked for June next year, but I'm flying for free, using Avios, from Heathrow. Yeehaaa! So much more civised. Luton is queue after queue after queue with oiks, and that's at 5am!

BTW, do you and Si fancy Corfu in June?
