Donkey Goes Cart Horse

“Some regard private enterprise as if it were a predatory tiger to be shot. Others look upon it as a cow that they can milk. Only a handful see it for what it really is--the strong horse that pulls the whole cart.”

Said the Great Man himself.

So, the last couple of weeks I’ve been the cart horse!

I saw a small, niche opportunity, to make around £100 a week buying and selling, without putting very much effort in, and for a small investment, which I’m pretty much guaranteed to get back, as a minimum. The first 2 weeks have gone exactly to plan, and I’ve made the money. Which is good, because I simply am not in the mood for other things. For this, I am just required to have a good eye. And I have, and I know what people will buy, and for how much.

Two “free” meals out this week, one last night, one coming up on Sunday. That’s going well, and I’m consistently a top scorer. Plus I’ve lunched twice at Marco’s this week. No bloody wonder I can’t lose any weight! But I’m grateful I have these opportunities, even if they are mostly self-made!

Last night after a good gym sesh, I went out for one of the aforesaid dinners with Marie. One of those places that get rave reviews on Trip Advisor, but to be honest the food was a let down. Undercooked chips, overcooked squid and tasteless meat. Saved only by the wonderful service, and the fact that we both loved the dining room. And then home, to type out my report, which didn’t get finished til almost midnight. At 51, even I am starting to marvel at my own energy and drive! But I’ve always been work hard, play hard, and I am grateful for my life.

Even though I’ve known Marie for a quite a while now, she’s never really opened up to me. But she did last night, and I feel humbled. Even more so when she told me she wouldn’t have to write everything out to get it out of her system now.

Birthday lunch today, and I feel stuffed. I’m nixing gym, I’ve been 3 times this week already anyway. Favouring a veg out n read, with the cats, on the sofa. Busy weekend ahead, no harm in a relaxing Friday.

My thoughts are with Rod and family.
